Our bovine fibrinogen is available in lyophilized powder. It is manufactured from bovine plasma sourced in the US.
At RMBIO, bovine fibrinogen is purified from fresh bovine plasma using a proprietary process that ensures excellent purity, solubility, and long-term stability.
- Soluble as 4% (w/v) solution in PBS, saline, or water.
- Purity ≥ 95% by SDS-PAGE.
- Stable for up to 2 years as lyophilized powder when stored at or below -20 °C.
Bovine fibrinogen, a plasma glycoprotein that plays a key role in blood coagulation, is produced by the liver in hepatic parenchymal cells. Following activation of the clotting cascade, a complex process involving several enzymes, fibrinogen is cleaved by thrombin to form insoluble fibrin strands that are critical to clot formation and platelet aggregation. Bovine fibrinogen has a molecular weight of 340 kDa and is comprised of α, β, and γ chains connected at their termini by a disulfide knot. Bovine fibrinogen is widely used in hemostasis research, in medicine for hemostatic therapy, in the creation of microporous scaffold matrices for tissue engineering, and in the development of fibrin adhesive products. In mammals, abnormally high or low fibrinogen levels can be an important indicator of inflammation, injury, or disease.
