Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle’s Medium (DMEM) is a modification of Minimum Essential Medium (MEM) that contains a higher concentration of amino acids and vitamins, as well as additional supplementary components, such as D-glucose.

DME-BBZ-XXX-011 contains a low concentration of 1000 mg/L D-glucose, 584 mg/L L-glutamine, 3700 mg/L sodium bicarbonate, 110 mg/L sodium pyruvate, and 25mM HEPES. Important considerations when selecting a nutrient medium include cell type, culture type (i.e., monolayer, suspension, clonal), and the degree of chemical definition necessary. It is important to review literature for recommendations concerning medium type, required supplementation, and physiological parameters required for a specific cell line.

Storage/Stability

The liquid medium should be stored at 2-8°C away from direct sunlight. Deterioration of the liquid medium may be recognized by:

(1) Precipitate or particulate matter throughout the solution

(2) Cloudy appearance

(3) Color change

(4) pH change

The nature of supplements added may affect storage conditions and shelf life of the medium. Product label bears expiration date.
