RPMI 1640 Media
RPMI 1640 medium was developed by Moore et al., at Roswell Park Memorial Institute, (hence the acronym RPMI) for long-term cell culture. The formulation is based on the RPMI 1630 series of media utilizing a bicarbonate buffering system with alterations to the amounts of amino acids and vitamins. RPMI 1640 medium is a modification of McCoy’s 5A medium and supports growth of many cell types, especially suspension cells such as normal and neoplastic leukocytes.
RPM-BBZ-XXX-000 contains 300 mg/L L-glutamine. Important considerations when selecting a nutrient medium are cell type, culture type (i.e., monolayer, suspension, clonal), and the degree of chemical definition necessary. It is important to review literature for recommendations concerning medium, supplementation and physiological parameters required for a specific cell line.
Store at 2-8°C.
